Arab community offended by Boccassini's 'oriental' remark (see related)(ANSA) - Rome, May 13 - Italy's Arab Community (Comai) expressed indignation on Monday over prosecutor Ilda Boccassini's description of the Moroccan woman at the centre of a sex trial against ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi as having "oriental cunning".

"Let's leave the prestigious Arab and Oriental civilizations out of Italian trials," Comai President Foad Aodi said.

Aodi made a statement to the press after receiving "numerous calls from outraged Arab citizens".

"We were flabbergasted by her out-of-line statements regarding the Arab and Islamic world, and non-European foreigners," Aodi said.

"The actions of one Arab do not constitute the actions of all," he said.

"We appreciate Boccassini's competence...but ask for an apology," Aodi said.
