European Parliament Speaker calls for tax-evasion crackdown
Schulz says next EU summit should introduce measures

(ANSA) - Rome, May 10 - European Parliament Speaker Martin
Schulz on Friday called for the next summit of European leaders
to take action to combat tax evasion.
''Experts calculate that some one trillion euros have been
lost as a result of tax evasion. It is important that measures
to combat tax evasion and fiscal fraud to be introduced at the
next European Council (in June),'' Schulz said after a meeting
with Italian Premier Enrico Letta in Rome.
''It would be an important signal'', he said.
