Consumer spending lowest since 2000, say Italian retailers

(ANSA) - Rome, May 7 - Consumer spending in recession-hit
Italy in March plummeted to the level of 2000, retailers'
association Confcommercio said Tuesday.
Confcommercio said its consumer spending index (ICC) fell
3.4% in March with respect to the same month in 2012 and 0.1%
with respect to February, taking it down to the level of 13
years' ago.
