Anti-mafia police carrying out inspections at Pompeii sites (ANSA) - Pompeii, April 16 - Units of Italy's anti-mafia police as well as other forces on Tuesday were carrying out inspections at restoration sites in Pompeii.

In particular the focus was on three residential units at the United Nations World Heritage site, called Casa degli Amorini Dorati, Fontana Grande and Casa della Fullonica.

The restoration works are part of the "Grande Progetto Pompeii" restoration project, which has received some 105 million euros in European Union funding and which local authorities are concerned may have been infiltrated by organized crime.
