Jordan's Ayla Oasis breaks ground for latest luxury hotel
Hyatt Regency to open in Red Sea resort by 201509 April, 13:44
(ANSA) - Rome, April 8 - The Ayla Oasis Development Company announced the start of construction on the Hyatt Regency Hotel and the Marina Village Souk Area last week in the Red Sea port development of ASEZA (Aqaba Special Economic Zone) in Jordan, slated for completion by 2015.
The new construction will further enhance the touristic, commercial, real estate and entertainment components in the port city of Aqaba while offering employment and investment opportunities that will positively contribute to the development of the zone and the national economy.
Sahl Dudin, Managing Director of Ayla Oasis Development Company, emphasized that the steady pace of construction in the project, including the newly announced works, signals "the company's sincere commitment towards the project's development".
The skeleton package was awarded to a local contracting firm at a value of around 23.8 million euros, to be implemented within 22 months. Ayla completed the Aqaba infrastructure phase in 2012 by flooding its lagoons and adding approximately 17 kilometers of new waterfront area to the fast-growing tourist and holiday destination that it is also home to 135,000 permanent residents.
Dudin says that Aqaba will also launch Jordan's first 18-hole golf course and golf academy designed by Australian professional golfer and entrepreneur Greg Norman.
By the time the ribbon is cut on the five-star hotel and shopping area, the Ayla Marina will have expanded to a capacity of 200 yachts.
"Aqaba is a beautifully coordinated mosaic that offers literally everything in one of the most stunning settings on earth," Dudin says.
