Pope says fight all poverty, recalls St Francis
Francis talks to diplomatic corps from chair, not throne22 March, 11:49
The pope recalled the Italian saint of the poor he chose his name for, Francis of Assisi, for his "fight against material poverty".
He also cited his predecessor Benedict XVI, who abdicated last month, for his spiritual fight against "the dictatorship of relativism".
Continuing the humble approach that has marked his week-old papacy, Francis did not sit on the traditional papal throne but on a plain white chair set on a small dais.
