Saint Teresa painting stolen from Milan church (ANSA) - Milan, March 21 - A painting of St Teresa of Lisieux was stolen from a church in the center of Milan, police said Thursday.

The painting, the value of which has not been released, was stolen from behind the altar at San Gregorio Magno, police said.

The work measured about 50 x 70 cm, or slightly less than 20 x 28 inches.

The theft comes a few weeks after a relic of St Anastasia was stolen from a different church in Milan.

Critics have complained that valuable works have been stolen from churches and even art galleries in Italy because of poor security.
