Police seize 31 kg of heroin in Ancona

Sniffer dog detects drugs under coating of toothpaste

(ANSA) - Ancona, March 21 - Italian police on Thursday stopped a Greek couple with 31 kg of heroin hidden under a false bottom of their car boot after they landed at this Adriatic ferry port.

A sniffer dog discovered the 60 packs of drugs despite them being smeared with toothpaste, police said.

The heroin had a street value of 3.5 million euros.
