Pietro Grasso 'ready' to become Italian premier

Senate Speaker widely touted as more neutral than Bersani

(ANSA) - Rome, March 21 - Senate Speaker and former national anti-Mafia prosecutor Pietro Grasso said Thursday he was "ready for anything" when asked about becoming premier.

Grasso, from the center-left Democratic Party (PD), has been widely touted as a more neutral candidate than PD head Pier Luigi Bersani.

The PD said Thursday it would ask Napolitano to form a "government of change" led by Bersani.
