U.S president sends best wishes, Biden tells Napolitano

(ANSA) - Rome, March 18 - United States President Barack Obama's trip to Israel is the "only reason" he is not attending Pope Francis's inauguration at St Peter's Tuesday, Vice-President Joe Biden told Italian President Giorgio Naplitano Monday.

Biden said Obama was sending his best wishes to Argentina's Francis, the first pope from the Americas, elected Wednesday after pope Benedict's shock abdication last month.
