Karzai asks new pope to pursue inter-religious dialogue
Afghan president wishes Francis 'success'

(ANSA) - Kabul, March 15 - Afghan President Hamid Karzai
said Friday said he hoped Pope Francis would contribute to
inter-religious dialogue and understanding between peoples of
different faiths.
In a message to Benedict XVI's successor, elected Wednesday,
Karzai reportedly said the pope played an ''important'' role in
promoting peaceful coexistence and wished him ''success in
efforts to further the cause of inter-religious dialogue and
understanding for peace in the world''.
