(ANSA) - Vatican City, March 13 - The election of the new
pope Wednesday required just one more ballot than that of his
predecessor Benedict XVI in 2005.Benedict, the former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, was elected after four ballots in less than two days in 2005.
The new pope's election took just over a day, and five ballots.
