Over 11,000 'moonlighting' public employees uncovered
Civil servants garner over 6 million euros from unauthorized pay

(ANSA) - Rome, March 13 - More than 11,700 state employees
and consultants received pay for unauthorized work outside of
their public contracts in 2012, Italian finance police said on
Wednesday.A special investigative police unit monitoring compliance with rules governing civil service and transparency in public administration carried out probes into state-contracted workers' for 2012.
The unit found 859 of those civil servants received payments of approximately six million euros from a second job that was not authorized by the government body for which they work.
