Conjunctivitis attack prevents him showing up

Berlusconi begs off ruby sex trial closing arguments (ANSA) - Milan, March 7 - Former Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi begged off attending closing arguments in the so-called Ruby underage prostitution trial against him tomorrow because he has a severe case of conjunctivitis, according to documents his attorneys filed in court on Thursday.

Berlusconi will also miss out on tomorrow's meeting with Premier Mario Monti, one of three meetings the prime minister is holding with political leaders ahead of a March 14 European Union summit.

The center-right People of Freedom (PdL) party leader is accused of paying to have sex with Moroccan dancer Karima El Mahroug while she was still underage at alleged Bunga Bunga sex parties at his home.

Judges will decide tomorrow whether or not to allow Berlusconi to miss out on his trial hearings due to health problems.
