Scilipoti, Razzi probed for corruption (ANSA) - Rome, March 5 - Two centre-left Senators who switched to ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's coalition to save his government from falling in December 2010 were placed under investigation by Rome prosecutors Tuesday. Domenico Scilipoti and Antonio Razzi, former members of the Italy of Values (IdV) party, are suspected of corruption, prosecutors said.

IdV leader Antonio Di Pietro, a former Clean Hands graftbuster, had filed various legal complaints about the two turncoats.

Another former member of the IdV, Sergio De Gregorio, is under investigation in a separate case in which he came forward in December and claimed he accepted three million euros from Berlusconi in 2006 to "sabotage" the centre-left government of Romano Prodi, which fell in 2008. Berlusconi claims De Gregorio made up the accusations.
