Investigators seize six million in relation to MPS case (ANSA) - Rome, March 5 - Italian Finance Police on Tuesday searched the homes of lawyers Michele Briamonte and Lorenzo Gorgoni in Lecce, Milan and Turin, seizing money and shares worth six million euros as part of probe into alleged fraud at troubled Italian bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS).

The operation regarded a new part of the probe, this time concerning suspected insider trading after news about board decisions was leaked to the media. Briamonte and Gorgoni are MPS advisers, and are not themselves under investigation, judicial sources said. The police reportedly also carried out searches for documents held by members of MPS's board of directors.
