'Devout greeting' for ex-pope

(ANSA) - Vatican City, March 5 - Cardinals gathered at the Vatican for pre-conclave meetings have sent a telegram to Benedict XVI conveying a "devout greeting" to the ex-pope, Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said Tuesday.

The cardinals expressed their "gratitude" to Benedict in the message on behalf of the whole Church for his "tireless" work, Lombardi said.
