Sex-change woman still husband before the law (ANSA) - Reggio Emilia, March 4 - An Italian court on Monday upheld an appeal from a Brazilian transgender immigrant whose residency was revoked after he became a she in a sex-change operation.

The court in this northern Italian city said the immigrant retained the rights acquired by marrying an Italian woman six years ago.

"The ties between the spouses have not been affected by the sex reassignment and the marriage continues even though the husband has changed gender," the court ruled.
