(ANSA) - Berlin, March 1 - President Giorgio Napolitano
reiterated that he would not accept a second term as head of
State on Friday speaking to members of the German press during a
State visit."I am convinced that the founding fathers conceived the role of President of the Republic as measured in seven year terms," Napolitano said.
"It is not a coincidence that no other president has served a second term. There are age factors and its limitations to consider," the 87-year-old president.
Napolitano completes his seven-year term in May.
