Italy 'very much in favor' of US-EU free-trade zone

(ANSA) - Rome, February 28 - Italian Foreign Minister Giulio
Terzi said Thursday that Italy is "very much in favor" of
President Barack Obama's proposed free-trade agreement between
the United States and the European Union."Italy is a strong supporter of this very big project within the European Union," Terzi added. Negotiations on the US-EU accord, known as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), are planned for summer and expected to go on for at least two years.
Obama announced the free-trade-agreement plan during his State of the Union speech earlier this month.
On Thursday Terzi was joined at the Italian foreign ministry by US Secretary of State John Kerry, who is in the capital for summits on the conflict in Syria and Palestinian-Israeli relations.
