Napolitano able to resolve election impasse, says Rehn
EU commissioner has 'faith in Italian institutions'

(ANSA) - Brussels, February 26 - EU Commissioner for
Economic Affairs Olli Rehn on Tuesday expressed his faith in the
capacity of Italian President Giorgio Napolitano to find a
solution to the uncertainty resulting from general elections
after no single party or coalition managed to win a clear
majority in parliament."Italians have made their democratic choice, now there is a complex scenario but we have faith in the institutions and in the ability of President Napolitano to find a rapid solution that might enable Italy to tackle the challenges ahead," he said. Echoing earlier calls by the German foreign minister, Rehn added that Italy needed to continue reforms "for the good of growth and employment".
"The (EU) Commission will work in close collaboration with the country to support it in this challenge," he said.
