Italy 'ungovernable' following elections says Vatican paper (ANSA) - Vatican City, February 26 - The Vatican daily on Tuesday deplored the results of Italy's recent general elections but ruled out an imminent return to the ballot box.

''In the end the most-feared outcome of Italy's political elections has materialised,'' wrote L'Osservatore Romano, blaming the current electoral law which it said was ''perfect for making the country ungovernable''.

However it said an ''imminent return to the polls seemed unthinkable''.
