Interest rate on six-month Italian bonds shoots up

(ANSA) - Rome, February 26 - The interest rate on six-month
Italian bonds soared at a Treasury auction on Tuesday amid
investor jitters after the country's general election produced
an inconclusive outcome.The Treasury sold 8.75 billion euros worth of six-month bonds at an average interest rate of 1.237%, compared to 0.731% at the last equivalent auction in January.
