(ANSA) - Florence, February 22 - Outgoing Italian Premier
Mario Monti indicated on Friday that the Genoa comedian Beppe
Grillo's political movement had the potential to toss Italy back
into sovereign debt crisis once again.
Responding to journalists' questions about what risk
Grillo's populist and anti-establishment Five Star Movement
(M5S) posed should it garner substantial voter support in
parliamentary elections on Sunday and Monday, Monti said, "We
had the risk of (becoming like) Greece in November 2011 and we
managed to thwart it with all the understanding and sacrifice of
the Italian people.
"It would be terrible to fall back into it. I hope not,"
said Monti.
