Elderly sister of Italian film icon heard in scam probe (ANSA) - Rome, February 22 - Aurelia Sordi, the 95-year-old sister of the late Italian movie star Alberto Sordi, was questioned on Friday in relation to a scam probe in which she is alleged to be a victim.

Prosecutor Eugenio Albamonte in Rome took testimony from Sordi in an investigation into an alleged attempt to exploit her fragile state.

The nature of the matter remains private, but the interrogation appeared to have strengthened the possibility of an indictment.

Alberto Sordi, an icon of Italian cinema, was famous for comedy and light drama.

Sordi first made his name dubbing the voice of Oliver Hardy in Laurel and Hardy shorts.

His name appeared on more than 150 titles over a career that lasted six decades.

The Roman actor died shortly before his 83rd birthday in 2003. His funeral was attended by a crowd of more than a million people.
