Seven charged in beating death after 5-a-side soccer match
Witnesses, victim remained silent20 February, 14:53
Police say that the death of Raffaele De Rosa, 36, of Casoria on May 8, 2011 resulted from a vicious beating that ruptured his spleen, causing heavy internal bleeding.
The beating came as "revenge" after a tussle involving De Rosa's brother after the match, police say. Several witnesses, including some relatives of the victim, watched the beating but police say none came forward with a complaint.
Initially, the victim claimed in hospital that he had been in a car crash and, against the advice of doctors, refused to remain for treatment.
