(ANSA) - Naples, February 20 - A five-a-side soccer match
that led to a fight which spurred a deadly revenge beating
resulted Wednesday in the arrest of seven people on charges of
murder and manslaughter.Police say that the death of Raffaele De Rosa, 36, of Casoria on May 8, 2011 resulted from a vicious beating that ruptured his spleen, causing heavy internal bleeding.
The beating came as "revenge" after a tussle involving De Rosa's brother after the match, police say. Several witnesses, including some relatives of the victim, watched the beating but police say none came forward with a complaint.
Initially, the victim claimed in hospital that he had been in a car crash and, against the advice of doctors, refused to remain for treatment.
