(ANSA) - Turin, February 20 - Piedmont Economy Councillor
Massimo Giordano quit Wednesday, a day after police raided his
home and offices in a corruption probe.
Former Novara Mayor Giordano said he felt compelled to
resign even though he had done nothing wrong and Piedmont
Governor Roberto Cota, a fellow member of the regionalist
Northern League party, had refused to accept the resignation
Tuesday."I have nothing to hide or fear but I realise that I can no longer continue my administrative work," Giordano said.
His spokesperson said the accusations of misuse of public funds were "monstrous".
