(ANSA) - Turin, February 19 - Piedmont Economy Councillor
Massimo Giordano quit Tuesday after police raided his home and
offices amid a corruption probe - but the former Novara mayor's
resignation was refused by Piedmont Governor Roberto Cota, a
fellow member of the regionalist Northern League party.Cota said he was satisfied with Giordano's assurances he did nothing wrong.
Piedmont is the latest Italian region to be hit by graft probes which last year led to the resignation of the governors of Lombardy and Lazio.
