Cardinal probed in alleged abuse cover-up headed to conclave
Mahony tweets he will be in Rome for pope vote

Roger Mahony who has come under fire for allegedly covering up
priest sex abuse posted a message on his Twitter account that
suggests he has every intention to participate in the upcoming
conclave to elect the next pope."Pray for us," he wrote, referring to the cardinals headed for the conclave to vote in a successor to Pope Benedict XVI.
"Count-down to the Papal Conclave has begun. Your prayers needed that we elect the best Pope for today and tomorrow's Church," Mahony wrote. The cardinal, who will be questioned under oath February 23 about how he handled Father Nicolas Aguilar Rivera, a visiting Mexican priest who allegedly molested 26 children in the Los Angeles archdiocese in 1987, said that he was planning on being in Rome for the conclave.
On Monday, influential Catholic newspaper Famiglia Cristiana launched an online poll asking if Mahony, the former archbishop of Los Angeles, should participate in the conclave.
