Rome revives 180 kilometer cycle race through city and area
Teams to compete in revived Rome Maxima cycling event

(ANSA) - Rome, February 18 - Cyclists in Rome are welcoming
the return of a professional cycling event to the national
capital.Rome Maxima, scheduled for March 3, will replace the former Giro del Lazio, which collapsed five years ago.
The new event, which has a new logo, promises 16 teams including nine internationally known.
Cyclists taking part include Spain's Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) and Filippo Pozzato (Lampre).
The race's 180 kilometer route will extend from the Roman Forum to the Via Appia Antica, Castelli Romani through Rocca Massima, Rocca Priora, Campi di Annibale, Albano Laziale, Cappuccini before finishing near the Coliseum on Via dei Fori Imperiali.
