(ANSA) - Venice, February 15 - A painting found in the
storeroom of Venice's Correr Museum has been attributed to the
15th-century artist Vittore Carpaccio, said a museum newsletter
published on Friday.Another painting, Madonna with Child, was attributed to Carpaccio in 2011 at the same museum after restorations uncovered the artist's signature "Vethor Scharpaco".
Museum experts said that the Pieta' painting pre-dates the 2011 discovery and could be one of his earlier works.
Carpaccio, an Italian painter of the Venetian school who studied under Gentile Bellini, is best known for a cycle of nine paintings portraying The Legend of Saint Ursula.
