Fifty abused cats rescued in Italy (ANSA) - Pistoia, February 15 - Animal protection officers say they are looking for homes for 50 malnourished cats that they rescued from a small room in the city of Pistoia.

Officers intervened after receiving numerous complaints about the owner of the adult cats, which had been abused and confined to a 20-square-meter room.

Pistoia lies about 50 kilometres northwest of Florence in Tuscany.
