Campari buys US distribution rights for Jamaican rum
Will sell Appleton after deal with Kobrand

(ANSA) - Milan, February 15 - Italian drinks giant Campari
said Friday it had bought the US distribution rights for popular
Jamaican rum Appleton from the Kobrand Corporation.Appleton, in addition to the Wray & Nephew and Coruba Rum brands, was acquired by the Campari group in December as part of the company's purchase of the Jamaican company Lascelles deMercado & Co. Limited.
Campari agreed to pay $20 million to Kobrand for the buy-back of the Appleton Rum portfolio distribution rights in the US.
