Centre-left wants 'super development ministry' if wins vote

Bersani says next government needs to focus on real economy

Centre-left wants 'super development ministry' if wins vote (ANSA) - Rome, February 14 - The head of Italy's Democratic Party (PD) on Thursday said that if his centre-left coalition wins the February 24-25 general election he would consider creating a ''super development ministry''.

In an interview with daily Il Messaggero's web television, Pierluigi Bersani said he was considering creating a new ministry to rebalance the powers of the Treasury, which in recent years has increasingly gained influence on policy, he said.

Bersani, whose coalition was in front in the polls before a pre-election blackout of opinion surveys kicked in last week, said the new ministry would help concentrate the government's efforts on growth and the real economy over finance.
