(ANSA) - Rome, February 11 - Pope Benedict XVI's decision
to step down had been taken "months ago", the Vatican daily
L'Osservatore Romano Editor Giovanni Maria Vian said on Monday."After his trip to Mexico and Cuba, and having repeatedly examined his conscience before God, (he made the decision) due to his advancing age," the director said.
