Italian cinema in January records five-year low
Ticket sales down 23%, box office takings slip 24%

(ANSA) - Rome, February 7 - January performance figures for
the film industry in recession-hit Italy were the worst in five
years, statistics agency Cinetel said Thursday.Ticket sales stood at just over 10 million, a 23% drop over the same month in 2012 and 47% down on the previous January, the sector's best. Box office takings fell by 24% to just under 64.9 million euros from January 2012 to January 2013. The market share taken by Italian films fell from 48% to 34% over the same period.
