Italian bishops chief says voters no longer 'fooled'
Employment and the family are 'priorities' says Bagnasco

(ANSA) - Rome, February 7 - The president of the Italian
Bishops Conference, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, on Thursday set
out the priorities for the government that will emerge from
upcoming parliamentary elections on February 24 and 25.
"In the first place, employment, without which there can be
no future for families, for individuals and for society as a
whole," said the prelate.Cardinal Bagnasco then listed the family, which is "fundamental for society".
"In third place (there is) the absolutely essential reform of the State apparatus," he said, adding that he hoped the upcoming polls would result in a government that might truly be able to pursue these priorities. In reference to promises made by parties during the election campaign, Cardinal Bagnasco said that "Italians need to hear the truth of things, without concessions or dramas, but also without illusions. "They are no longer fooled by anyone or by anything".
