Over three million Italians hit with flu
Number so far this season already exceeded past years' cases

(ANSA) - Rome, February 6 - More than three million Italians
have been hit with influenza this season, already exceeding the
total number recorded in recent years, health researchers said
Wednesday.Since the start of the surveillance season, more than three million people have been infected, said the latest bulletin of the Weekly Influnet.
In the week ending February 3 alone, fully 573,000 new cases were reported, according to the bulletin.
That means this season's total cases has already exceeded the numbers reported in 2006 through 2009 inclusive, and is on pace to overtake last year's total.
