Passenger ferry catches fire, towed to safety near Agrigento

(ANSA) - Agrigento, February 6 - Palermo port authorities
towed a ferry transporting passengers from the Sicilian city of
Lampedusa to safety in the southwestern Empedocle port after
crew were able to extinguish a fire that broke out on board at
approximately 2am Wednesday morning.The Palladio ferry line called for help approximately five sea miles off the Sicilian coast of Agrigento.
None of the 31 crew or 38 passengers aboard were injured, said authorities.
