Brusca, who carried out the Falcone killing, is suspected of violence or threat of violence to the political body of the state. Mancino, who later served as speaker of Italy's Senate, is accused of false testimony. "I never received any request" to "soften the State's efforts to combat the Mafia" said the former interior minister in response to the accusations. There are a further nine suspects in the case, including Mafia bosses, ex-anti-Mafia police officers and current members of Parliament.
