Oscar-winning Italian film producer guilty of illegal transfers

Cecchi Gori sentenced to 6 years for criminal bankruptcy (ANSA) – Rome, February 1 – A Rome court on Friday sentenced Oscar-winning Italian film producer and former Fiorentina soccer club chairman Vittorio Cecchi Gori to six years in jail on Friday over the criminal bankruptcy of cinema management company Safin Cinematografica, part of his former holding company Cecchi Gori Group. Five others were convicted in relation to the 2008 bankruptcy on charges of bankruptcy due to distraction or dissipation of resources or lack of proper management oversight.

In particular, the defendants stood charged of transferring assets, particularly shares in certain Rome movie theatres, from Safin to other companies in the Cecchi Gori Group.
