Runaway from abusive home gets help from Italian police

Albanian boy finds new home in Umbria

(ANSA) - Citta di Castello, January 30 - A teenage runaway fleeing an abusive father in Albania may have found a new home in Umbria's Citta di Castello.

The 15-year-old boy arrived in Italy by airplane with little money but high hopes of finding a new life.

After his backpack and identity papers were lost, the boy wandered for days, hungry and cold. Finally, he sought help from Italian police, having seen them on television portrayed as the good guys.

Police verified his story and managed to find him a temporary home in the central Italian province of Umbria while authorities sort out what comes next for the boy.
