28 January, 15:30
(ANSA) - Naples, January 28 - Elderly residents of a nursing
home in the periphery of Naples took to the streets on Monday to
protest the temporary closure of their facility for renovations. The protestors - some of whom have lived in the nursing home for 20 years - fear that once the facility closes on February 14, they may not be allowed back in.
Despite the winter cold, roughly 30 residents occupied the sidewalk in front of the old site of the Padre Ludovico da Casorio nursing home in Posillipo, a western part of Naples.
Draped banners asked for help from city and regional governments as well as the archbishop of Naples, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe.
