
(ANSA) - Lucca, January 25 - A 4.8-magnitude earthquake
struck the Garfagnana area of Tuscany on Friday at 15:48 local
time.
The towns at the epicentre were Castiglione Garfagnana,
Villa Collemandina, Pieve Fosciana and Fosciandora, where checks
are now underway to assess the damage.
However the tremor was also clearly felt in the provincial
capital Lucca, Massa Carrara and Versilia, as well as further
afield in Pisa, Siena, Arezzo, Florence and in the regions of
Emilia-Romagna, Liguria and Lombardy.
In the town of Corfino, outside Lucca, a chimney top
reportedly fell from the roof of an old house.
The fire department said it had so far received no calls
for assistance.
