Centre left stretches lead in latest poll
Centre right and centre both lose ground

(ANSA) - Rome, January 25 - The centre-left coalition led by
the Democratic Party (PD) and its secretary Pier Luigi Bersani
stretched its lead over the rival centre right less than five
weeks before Italians were due to go to the polls to elect their
new parliament, an opinion poll said Friday.
The centre left stood at 34.1%, up 1.1% over the same time
last week, according to the latest survey by Trieste-based
pollster Swg for state broadcaster Rai.
The centre-right coalition, led by the People of Freedom
(PdL) party of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi, lost 0.6% to come
in at 26.6%.The populist and anti-establishment Five Star Movement of Genoa comedian Beppe Grillo continued its positive performance, gaining 0.4% to stand at 17.2%, the same as the PdL taken alone.
The centrist coalition led by outgoing Premier Mario Monti lost 0.9% to stand at 12.8%.
Civil Revolution, a new party led by Palermo anti-mafia magistrate Antonio Ingroia, remained stable at 5.4%, well above the 4% threshold needed in order to qualify for seats.
