(ANSA) - Rome, January 25 - Auto sales in recession-hit
Italy may have fallen by as much as 25% in January, car dealers'
association Federauto said on Friday."It is a dramatic figure, which could be partly corrected by the end of the month," Federauto President Filippo Pavan Bernacchi said. The auto dealers' chief predicted an "implosion of the distribution system" if the new government that emerges from general elections on February 24 and 25 "does not take immediate action".
Consequently he called on "parties to say now what they intend to do for the sector, if elected".
