Man arrested in Matera for paying with counterfeit money

Police seize 3,050 euros of false 50 notes

(ANSA) - Matera, January 24 - Police in the southern Italian town of Matera on Thursday arrested a man after he allegedly tried to pay for housing goods with a counterfeit 100-euro banknote.

The store owner alerted police after the man paid for goods with false banknotes previously.

During searches of the man's house police confiscated another 3,050 euros of counterfeit 50-euro banknotes.
