Davos judges Italy positively this year, Monti says
Last year there was a 'lot of uncertainty'

(ANSA) - Rome, January 24 - Italy was judged positively this year by world leaders and analysts at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Italian Premier Mario Monti said at a press conference on Thursday.
"Last year there was uncertainty whether Italy would be able to overcome its problems, this year Italy was spoken about in a positive way", Monti said. "It is the first time that there was a specific session held on Italy". Mario Monti was appointed to take over from outgoing premier Silvio Berlusconi in November 2011 in a bid to form a technocrat government that would steer Italy away from a Greece-style debt crisis. Since taking power, he introduced a series of reform measures, though he resigned last month amid waning political support a crucial parliament vote and is currently caretaking prime minister. He has since said he will be running in the upcoming February general elections.
