Carabinieri officer sentenced to 3 years for stealing drugs
Pavia court drops trafficking charges

(ANSA) - Pavia, January 22 - A court in the northern city
of Pavia on Tuesday sentenced a Carabinieri officer to three
years in jail for stealing 26 kilograms of hashish being kept in
the police station storeroom after being confiscated.Officer Alfredo Morganella was arrested by colleagues from his unit in April 2012.
The court dropped charges against Morganella for drug trafficking and reduced the prosecutor's originally requested sentence of seven years to three.
