Over 11% of Italian families in relative poverty, Istat says
Over 5% in absolute poverty

(ANSA) - Rome, January 22 - Over 11% of Italian families
were in relative poverty in 2011, Istat said Tuesday.
According to the national statistics agency, the percentage
equalled 8.2 million people, or 13.6% of the total resident
population.Just over 5% of Italian families, or 3.4 million people, were living in absolute poverty, according to the report.
